Environmental organizations doubted whether the ‘only’ is 50,000 liters of oil. In view of the thickness of the oil puddle it should go to a much larger quantity. It is expected that all beaches on Koh Samet will become contaminated and even the mainland of Thailand is at risk.

If the oil is not cleaned up, which will soon reach a strip of coral at Koh Kudee. The oil is there cause irreparable damage to the fragile environment, Thai officials warn. Also, the oil towards the mainland of Rayong province afloat. As a result, the local fisheries are in big trouble.
